The Wheel Of the Year

This is a joyus time to celebrate abundance and the gratitude we have for mother nature, our own success and personal growth. For this reason it's associated with the mother Archetype.
Lughnasadh is a harvest festival and falls on the half way point between Summer Solstice (Litha) and Autumn Equinox (Mabon). It is when the days are... Read More

Mabon is a time to find balance, light, dark, joy, sorrow, celebration, mourning. It gives us the opportunity to find wholeness in accepting all aspects of our lives, not just the achievements.
Mabon falls on the Autumn Equinox and brings a sense of balance as the days and nights are equal in Light and Dark. Harvest is still abundant as we begin to prepare ourselves for the cold months ahead.

Imagery look familiar? You may know Samhain as Halloween (we'll go into more detail on this in the circle). At this time the veil between the underworld and our world is concidered thin and therefore it is a time to connect with our ancestors. It is associated with the crone phase. Yule marks the Winter Solstice which is the shortest day of the year and the longest night. After this date the days will begin to grow longer though there are many months of cold weather ahead it is a turning point to begin to look ahead to the warmer days giving a sense of hope in the depths of winter. we are given the opportunity to celebrate both the darkness and the light and bring loved ones together.

Imbolc calls us to cleanse our hearth and home and clear away any stagnant energy from the winter. it is a season of hope. We can think about changes that need to be made before we put a plans in to action in the coming months. the Goddess Brigid is honored at this time to bring energy and inspiration.

What do bunnies and eggs have in common? Ostara of course! In the Northern hemisphere Ostara falls at the same time as Easter which is the coming of spring. When we celebreate this sabbat I will tell you a pagan children's story that ties the hare and the eggs together which will make a lot more sense as to why we have fancy pretty eggs brought by a rabbit at this time of year.

'Beltane' stems from the Celtic god Belenus 'bright one' who is associated with fire, healing and prophecy. Celebrated with dancing around a bon fire now is the time for action as summer is upon us. Dance freely, heal your soul and rewild. The return of the sun was an important time for farmers. Ancestors purified their cattle by walking them between 2 bonfires before being put out to pasture calling in a prosperous season.

Litha marks the longest day of the year and celebrates the midsummer. One of the four solar festivals in the year it is easy to find evidence of how important this solstice was to our ancestors. It brings strength and power and give us the opportunity to be our boldest selves.
